License & Regulations - California

 

One-time registration $17, processed by club. You receive a lifetime plate and registration card.

You must wear a DOT (Dept. of Trans.) approved helmet from 20 mph and over.

You must wear a DOT (Dept. of Trans.) approved bicycle helmet for 20 mph or less.

You must be 16 years of age

All club scooters are street legal and federal safety approved for California

You do not need a C License.

20 mph to 30 mph requires a scooter license (M2)

Over 30 mph requires a motorcycle license (M1). We highly recommend you get the M1 over the M2.

No insurance necessary but at $80/year, its worth it.

 To get the license:

  1. Register your scooter through the mail for $17. You will receive a lifetime plate, and registration card.     

  2. Study the Motorcycle Handbook.

  3. Visit the DMV with $25.00 for your M2 or M1 Permit.
